Seamen’s Society for Children & Families

The Seamen’ Society for Children and Families is the oldest operating charitable organization on Staten Island for over 150 years. It offers such valuable services to the community as domestic violence intervention, child foster care and other child care services. When the Seamen’s Society for Children & Families purchased the property at 50 Bay Street, it awarded Daggart Construction to perform their major renovation plus plus addition.

The project consisted of a complete gutting of four floors plus basement and adding an additional fifth floor consisting of 9,000 sq. ft bringing the total square footage to approximately over 50,000 sq. ft.

St. Peter’s Boys High School

St. Peter’s Boys High School is one of the oldest Catholic school institutions on Staten Island that was growing in leaps and bounds. John Fodera the Principal of the High School awarded Daggart Construction as their primary contractor to perform a major school expansion. The plans called for a new state of the art addition. This addition had to fit into the existing architectural design of this 120 year old school.

New computer rooms, science labs, biology labs and music rooms were added. New elevators were installed and a complete new library wing was also constructed. The façade of the new wing matched the existing structure.

St. Peter’s Boys High School New Fitness Center

After Daggart Construction finished their school addition, John Fodera awarded Daggart Construction their second phase of their master plan by constructing a new state of the art fitness center. The fitness center was constructed out of structural steel frame with 120 feet of glass curtain wall overlooking the St. Peter’s Eagles Football Field.

The second floor of the new fitness center is totally fitted out with new gym equipment with all necessary shower, bathrooms and locker area. All Eagle coaching staff received their own office areas. The new fitness center has parking for approximately 65 vehicles.

Harbor Freight Tools

Harbor Freight is a growing United States tool retailer that is looking to add 400 new locations over the next five years. When Harbor Freight decided to build its first Staten Island location on the corner of Forest Avenue and South Avenue, it awarded Daggart Construction Corporation it’s first ground up building in North America.

The first step was to demolish the old Western Beef Supermarket that was standing at that location. Daggart accomplished that task safely and efficiently. The old Western Beef Supermarket was approximately 30,000 square feet of concrete, brick and steel that had to be cleared away

MetFood Supermarkets

MetFood Supermarkets is a growing supermarket chain on Staten Island, and that is why the company contracted with Daggart Construction Corporation to build two new locations. One location is at the corner of Hyland Boulevard and Clove Road, and the other is on Victory Boulevard.

These two projects show just how diverse Daggart can be for the same client. Location number one is a structural steel frame building with a full nine foot deep basement. The basement carries all of the supermarket’s refrigerator units. The supermarket’s office area is located on the second floor and the location has a parking

Our Lady Star of the Sea

Our Lady Star of the Sea is an anchor parish for the Catholic Church in Staten Island, and the Archdiocese of New York awarded Daggart Construction Corporation to make some significant additions to their recreational facilities.

Daggart Construction constructed two new gymnasiums and a soccer field. The gymnasiums received state of the art bleacher seating, retractable basketball hoops, luncheonette area and a Hall of Fame area. Daggart Construction made sure that the project came in on budget and on time.

St. Joseph by the Sea High School

St. Joseph by the Sea High School in Staten Island needed a new auditorium. The old auditorium, where students held their holiday plays and other productions, was deteriorating and needed to be replaced.

Daggart built a 320-seat new auditorium with stadium type seating. The new stadium seating represented the school’s colors. A new state of the art stage area was installed with all necessary sound and lighting. Special sound barriers were installed on the inside of all the exterior walls. The finished ceiling was a state of the art saw tooth ceiling with hidden lighting for special effects. It was
